How do we stack up against the league?

Set your players, and your team, against everyone else in their league.

The Players side: the squad down the left, and the players picked set against the league on the right, one at a time. Elliot Anderson against the league's six defensive midfielders, with last season at Nottingham Forest dashed behind each dial.

A dial for each part of his game

Pick players on the rail and each gets his dials against the league, one player at a time: the Showing strip picks whose, and ‹ › steps through them. Each slice is one figure. Its length is where he ranks, and its colour runs from red for the worst fifth to green for the best.

  • Open a dial: every figure behind it, his own figure, his rank and what it rests on, with the best and weakest named above.
  • Last season behind it: the dashed line is where he stood at last season's latest capture of the same league, even at another club, and each move is counted in percentile points.

▲ and ▼ are better or worse than last season. △ and ▽ are more or less of a figure with no better end, like pressures attempted, which is a way of playing rather than a strength.

Measured against his position

By default he's ranked among the league's players in his settled position, the group he's listed under on the rail. Elliot Anderson is measured against the league's six defensive midfielders, not against everyone. The chips move him to another group, or the whole league.

Each position group has its own order of the dials, set in Graphs, so a centre back's dials open on Defensive actions and a striker's on Finishing.

Honest about small numbers

Against six defensive midfielders a percentile would be a ranking in disguise, so each slice shows where he ranks instead, and the dial says why.

  • A blank isn't a zero: a slice left blank has too little behind it to rank. A per 90 needs at least two full games.
  • Not in the league capture? A player under the appearance filter FM's league view was set to still gets drawn: his own capture stands in for his row, and the note says so.

Table: everyone picked, side by side

Table puts one dial's figures for everyone picked side by side, with a pill for where each stands, and a Typical column for where he usually sits across them.

  • His own group: each player against his own position, so defensive midfielders are ranked among six and central midfielders among twelve.
  • The whole league: everyone against the same crowd, so the pills line up.

A pill measured against his own group isn't the same claim for a centre back and a striker, so sorting goes by Football Manager's own figure, not the pills. A player on loan is measured on what he earned at his loan club.

Click a heading to sort on it. Football Manager's figure decides the order, since each pill is measured against that player's own group.

The pill is his percentile among his group (90 is better than 90 in every 100 of them) or his rank, like 3/12, where fewer than 20 can be ranked. A dash: too little behind it to rank. ▾ less is better.

Not in this table: Archie Gray (too little behind his figures to rank).

Graphs: your players in the crowd

The scatter charts placed on this tab in Graphs, listed by category. Pick one and it plots the league's players as grey dots, with yours drawn over them and the league's median dashed on each axis.

The chips set the crowd, and the panel beside the chart gives each player's percentile on both figures. A hollow dot is a player outside the group, or one whose own capture stands in for a league row.

Leaders: the whole league in order

Leaders puts the league's players in order on one figure, the top 20 and yours, or everyone with Show all, and needs nobody picked. Click any heading to put the league in order on that figure instead.

Every figure is coloured by where it ranks, and the last column says how much football is behind the figure sorted on. Ours are highlighted, and • marks those picked on the rail.

Your team against every team

Switch to Teams and your team's figures are built from your players' rows in the league capture, then ranked among every team in the league, on the same dials. Each dial says where your team typically ranks.

  • Built from the capture: only the players in it count, for every team, yours included, so a team's totals are its regulars' totals.
  • Found through your players: your club is the one most of your players' rows are at, matched by Football Manager's ID, so its name never has to match yours.

Against the average, or one club

Open a dial and set your team against every team by rank, against the league average, or against one club. A dashed line on each slice marks where that side stands, and the line above counts how many figures you're ahead on.

  • A per 90 reads per match: each player's is weighted by his minutes and multiplied by the players on the pitch it counts, so a team's figures read like a match.
  • Rebuilt, not averaged: percentages come from the team's own completions over its attempts.
  • Who makes it up: click a figure to see which of your players make up ours, and his share of it.
  • Against your own last season: pick Us in 25/26 to set your team against itself a season ago.

Some figures, like shots per 90, are a way of playing rather than a strength, so they say which side does more of it and count as neither ahead nor behind.

Every team, one table

Table puts the league's teams down the side and one dial's figures across, with your team highlighted and the league average as a row among them. A line under each figure says where that team ranks, green for the top fifth and red for the bottom.

Click a heading to sort the teams on it, and shift-click to add it as a further key. A category that only applies to outfield players, such as Finishing, is built from outfield players only.

Every team on a chart

Graphs plots the charts placed on the Teams side, a dot a team, with the league average dashed on each axis and your team picked out. The panel beside it gives your figure, your rank and the average on both axes, and every team's figures.

Good to know

It needs a league capture from Data capture's League mode, and each squad's league set in Setup under Compared with.

Capture the league early in each new season. The first captures are thin, and the line under the tabs says so when a capture covers fewer clubs than last season's.

It never sets your own players against each other. That's Squad comparison's and Player comparison's job.
